More Migrant Deaths in Channel
Tuesday saw another tragic incident of migrants drowning in the Channel. The UK government blames the people smugglers, the French government blames the UK’s lax employment laws. So how do we get on top of this problem.
If we dont do something to reduce the number of arrivals we wont have enough money (that’s the tax we pay – just in case you thought that government money came from somewhere else!) to look after our own people – let alone any of the new arrivals. So, how about focusing on making our country much less attractive to illegal migrants coming across the Channel. At the moment, every migrant gets £50 per week, somewhere to live, food to eat and free NHS treatment – without having to join lengthy GP queue.
I have no idea what the £50 per week is for, but surely if we stopped paying this, and any other benefits that we pay them, plus remove the entitlement to free NHS treatment, the UK would look a less appealing destination. In short, whatever benefits they get in the UK must be demonstrably less attractive than what they can get in France. That would certainly put be me off risking my life to cross the Channel.
